Rasmi Residential School was founded in the year 2000 with the goal of bringing hope to the lives of
under-privileged girls. Located in the city of Davangere (Karnataka state, India) and run by Dr. D.
Parvathappa Memorial Trust, the school provides free housing, education and care for young girls who
would otherwise live a life of illiteracy, poverty and ignorance.
OverviewThe Trust was started in the memory of Dr. D. Parvathappa who served the community with his medical practice. A long time resident of Davangere, he was well known for providing free medical treatment to the poor and needy. He also extended his generosity to poor and bright children by providing them shelter in his house and by paying for their education.Dr. D. Parvathappa passed away in the year 1993. The Dr. D. Parvathappa Memorial Trust was formed in his memory with the goal of continuing his selfless work for the community. Dr. P. Surendra, Dr. Parvathappa's son, lost his daughter - Rasmi - in a car accident. She was only 21. Seeking solace in helping better the lives of the unfortunate, Dr. Surendra along with other members of his family started the Rasmi Residential School for under-privileged girls. The school is managed and run by the Dr. D. Parvathappa Memorial Trust. The NeedA well nurtured and educated child can grow into an individual with responsibility, integrity and ambition. Most families in our society cannot afford to provide a balanced environment for their children due to various social and economic reasons. Such children grow up lacking self-confidence, discipline and the motivation to live a meaningful life.A little help and guidance in the early years can make a significant change in a child's life. This is where Rasmi Residential School steps in.
